End of Summer Tournament – Ennis, TX Championship Game!!!

Texas D-1 Ambassadors – Chip 73   DC Kings 17U 57

We Win the Championship to close out the AAU Summer Season!

After playing their hearts out against the Dallas Mustangs in the Semi-Final Game, the team came out flat and a bit tired in their 3rd game of the day.  The DC Kings was fired up and ready at the start jumping out to a 15 pt lead at the start of the 1st half, but everyone got their second win and cruised to the victory after closing the lead to only 1 pt by half time, trailing 30 – 29.

This game was the Deon Mitchell (2011 Pflugerville HS) show, and both teams seemed to watch in amazement as he poured in 36 pts for the game, at one point hitting 8 straight 3’s!  He was also 6 of 6 from 2’s for the game and had 3 steals.

It has been a great summer and thanks to all the boys for playing hard and representing their team, themselves and their families well.  Have a great rest of the summer and an exciting school year!

End of Summer Tournament – Ennis, TX

Texas D-1 Ambassadors – Chip 80   Dallas Mustangs 74

The team led the whole way in this very hard fought game against a very good Dallas Mustangs Team that includes the #1 Ranked Player in Texas in Class of 2011, LeBryan Nash.  Our team played with great passion for the entire game and out hustled and out shot the Mustangs for the full 32 minutes.  Demetris Smith (2010 Pflugerville HS) got the best of the matchup and led the team with 25 pts and 6 rebs.  He also had the best dunks, with a power slam with Nash in pursuit.  Deon Mitchell had 18 pts and 5 asts, Jarrell Turner (Pflugerville HS) had 12 pts and Adam Whitlock (2011 St. Michael’s Academy HS) had 10 pts to round out the 4 players in double figures.

Everyone contributed in this lopsided win, spreading the scoring around, with Nick Leasure (2010 St. Michael’s Academy) leading the way with 15 pts on 7 of 8, 2’s.  Nick made everything around the basket with a very solid effort.  The team only made three 3 pt shots today, but it did not matter as they were an efficient 21 of 38 from 2’s.  Demetrius “Cleveland” Smith (2010 Pflugerville HS) did a great job cleaning the boards with 8 for the game, including 3 offensive.

Great American Shootout – Georgetown, TX Championship Final

Texas D-1 Ambassadors – Chip 68   Dallas Heroes (TX) 66 OT

Facing the Heroes for the 4th time in 3 days, these teams were getting to know each other all too well, as it took Overtime to secure a very physical, hard fought 2-point victory.  Demetrius Smith led the way again with 24 pts and 8 rebs, matching the physical play of the Heroes’ large-body Big man (#32).  #32 put several of our guys on the floor, including “checking” Adam Whitlock into the bench chairs resulting in a deep gash just below his elbow that required stitches, as well as a scar to remember about 6” down his arm.  In spite of the hard physical play, this was a very entertaining game that required an extra overtime session to declare the CHAMPION.

Texas D-1 Ambassadors Scoring

Demetrius Smith              24 pts          8 rebs

Deon Mitchell                    12 pts          4 rebs          4 asts

Texas D-1 Ambassadors – Chip 70   CenTex Shooters (TX) 67

This 1st game on Sunday proved to be as hard fought as the night before, with the team pulling out a victory by 3 pts on a miss to tie by the Shooters.  The team took their game inside the arc and to the FT line, but also shot an efficient 11 of 23 from the 3 pt line.  Adam Whitlock led all scorers with 14 pts, on 4 of 5, 3 pt shooting from the arc, hitting 4 straight in the 1st half of the game.  Demetrius Smith was 4 of 4 from the line and Deon Mitchell was 4 of 4 from 2’s, mainly on dazzling drives to the basket.  This was a very balanced scoring attack, with 4 players scoring in double figures, and everyone making a contribution.
